Every Chinese new year's eve people line up outside The Wong Tai Sin temple and rush to main alter at midnight to offer insense to Wong Tai Sin, a Taoist deity. The earlier you do this during the year, the better luck you will have that year. This temple is known for answering people's prayers, and for the many fortune telling booths inside the temple. This was two days after Chinese new year. Probably the longest lineup I've ever seen. But it moved fast. The double happiness symbol behind me dates back to the Tang Dynasty and has a cute legend - a couple wed after they were able to complete a poetic couplet when they ran each other again. During the wedding ceremony, they wrote a "happy" symbol on two pieces of red paper to express their happiness with two events.
